It's Spooky Season!

It's Spooky Season!

Gosh,

One of my most favorite times of the year. I am so overly excited, I can hardly contain myself.

Holidays

As I reflect on the end of the year, I like to think about what happened, what I want to carry forward, and what I want to leave behind. I think the “ber” months do this to me.

I also get extremely cozy and love being a true Taurus, snuggled in with good food, movies, and surrounded by my pets. I think that is genuinely one of my favorite things about life.

I also love and adore Halloween and always have since I was a child.  I just love dressing up, showing my creativity, and getting to not be the everyday version of myself for a little while. And maybe that makes sense now that I think about it. That tracks with why I love the art of performance so much.

It makes me a little sad to think that I will spend maybe, hopefully, 80 Halloweens on this earth. So far, I’ve had 35 of them. It’s an interesting way to look at life, but I think that’s also why we should truly live in the moment. Tomorrow is never promised.

Which brings me to another important thing.

Estate Planning

Please do not wait until tragedy or the unexpected happens to start thinking about estate planning.

Get your wishes written down properly. Talk to an attorney. Make decisions while you are here and able to make them for yourself. The cost and effort now can provide an enormous amount of comfort later, and I think it is one of the kindest things you can do for the people you love.

During a time of grieving, the last thing your family should have to worry about is scrambling to figure out what you wanted or how everything is going to be paid for.

I absolutely adore my attorney, and going through this process made me realize how many people put it off. If there is anything guaranteed in life, it’s that none of us are staying here forever.

Content

So, what’s been going on with me?

Without saying too, too much, I am working on some exciting projects and experimenting with new content, as always. I’ve also been adding a little new twist to things: spooky content, at least for the season. We’ll see how it goes.

As a fellow horror fan, I love being able to bring that into my own creative vision. It’s so fun watching an idea that existed only in my head actually come to life.

I’m just trying things out. That’s one of my favorite things about content. You can always keep practicing. You can try something, learn from it, and try something else.

I absolutely love humor, satire, and nostalgia, so those aren’t going anywhere. But it’s always fun to give the page a little something extra!

Health

I am really starting to focus more on my personal mental and physical health. It feels so good, especially when I think about how much I have been asking from my body and mind lately.

I have to take care of both, and I always encourage other people to do the same. Get plenty of rest. Drink water. Get some sunshine. Move your body. And, very importantly, remember that it’s okay to say no to other people.

Your time is yours.

A great reminder for me, too.

Overall and Last Thoughts

If I leave you with anything, it’s to remember that today will one day be the good old days, so live in the present while you’re actually in it.

It’s okay to ask for help. It’s okay to go to therapy. It’s important to take accountability. It’s important to admit when you’re wrong. It’s important to keep the people you love close to you.

As I close out this digital diary, I’m wishing you all so much fun and spookiness for this upcoming season. 🎃

Please remember to stay safe and make choices that your future self will thank you for.

Never stop grinding, fighting for our rights, dismantling racism, and staying far away from losers. ;)
